2013 Preschool Spring Program

Micah participated in his first preschool program last Thursday. The story was on "The Prodigal Son" (with a western theme) and it was great fun to sit in the church pews and watch Micah and his preschool friends share God's love with those in attendance. I would like to share a couple of pictures, from the evening, with you.

Maple Tree Tapping/Maple Syrup Demonstration

Today we were blessed to go on a field trip to a farm in neighboring community. We drove 1 hour to see a maple syrup demonstration. We helped/saw a maple tree being tapped and learned about making maple syrup from the sap. We even got to take home a pint sized jar of pure maple syrup! Yum!!! We learned lots about making maple syrup. It's a lot of time and hard work, but the product is worth it. God is so amazing!!

Pinewood Derby Day!

Here are some pictures and a video from Scout Pinewood Derby Day. Daddy helped Benjamin design and make his "Delorean" car for the big race. Benjamin placed 17th (out of twenty-something scouts). He was happy that he won a couple of heats and was a good sport during all the racing. As is true to Benjamin's character, he wasn't very animated (even when he did win), but it was a great family day and we all had a good time.

Hot Rod

Here's another video of Benjamin reading another "Fun Tale" from the Kindergarten Sonlight curriculum. Micah was playing in the background, so I am hoping you can hear Benjamin read all the pages. Just in case, here are pictures of the pages.

The Amazing Chemistry Show

Last night we all attended an educationally entertaining stage production called "The Amazing Chemistry Show". It was a fun and captivating time for the whole family (and it was free!). Here's a picture I took of the boys right at the beginning of the evening. The founder and creator, Josh Denhart, uses chemistry to teach Bible stories. If you want more information, or you would like to read "The Amazing Chemistry Show" ministry, you can go to the website at http://chemistryshowchurch.blogspot.com/. I was so captivated by his message, I only took one video (at the very end). It was wonderful to see God's Word proclaimed in such a memorable way!

The show lasted a little over an hour, but we were all so interested that it felt like half that time. The really neat part is that the school that sponsored the evening is also planning a week long summer chemistry camp for kindergarteners through 8th grade. We'll keep you posted.

Memories with Moms Day

Yesterday was Memories with Moms day at preschool. I met Micah at preschool and we carpooled over to Copper Leaf Nursing Home. The kids handed out homemade gifts and sang songs to the residents. Then we travelled back to preschool for some lunch. It was great fun to see and hear the kids sharing Jesus' love with the nursing home residents!

Musicians...

Benjamin received an electronic keyboard from a college friend today and he is VERY eager to play. In fact, he's not even waiting for instruction. We better add a trip to the music store to our morning schedule tomorrow. Here's a short clip of the music the boys are playing for me. Benjamin on his new piano and Micah playing his upside-down bucket as a drum. Bring back any memories for anyone?

Our Two Firefighters

Last night, out of nowhere, our boys decided to discuss firefighters. Afterwards, they put on their firefighter hats and went to work. Between clearing the dinner table and cleaning the kitchen, I managed to take a few pictures of our brave boys in action. Hope you enjoy!

Christmas Eve Day Fun!

Merry CHRISTmas Eve Day! We started the morning with our Advent calendars, reading Bible verses, and putting baby Jesus in the manger. Since we usually have to travel on Christmas Day (this year is the exception), the kids open their gifts on Christmas Eve Day. So, we opened presents this morning. Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts! The kids LOVED opening presents!!! Tonight, we are looking forward to celebrating Jesus' birth at the Sunday School Christmas program. Last night was the dress rehearsal, so I took some pictures of the boys in their western attire (the Christmas story with a western theme). Hope y'all enjoy the pictures!

Preschool Christmas Program

Last night, we were blessed to see Micah in the Preschool Christmas Program, "Miracle in the Manger". He did such a great job and we are SUPER proud of him!! Before the program, Micah said he wanted to sing with his friends. Well, he did that and more. He spoke lines with his class, sang songs, did actions, and helped to proclaim God's love through Jesus' birth. Lord, thank you for blessing Micah and our family with this special night filled with your love. Thank you for entering our hearts and helping us focus on the real reason for the season. Lord, I just want to thank you.

Micah's Christmas present

It being the last day of preschool before Christmas, Micah brought home a backpack full of goodies. As we were sifting through and opening things, we found a present labeled "For Mom and Dad". After we convinced Micah that the present was indeed for us, we opened it. I was expecting a popsicle stick frame around his school picture or another wonderful homemade present. What we found was completely priceless and will be a heartwarming keepsake for many years to come. I can only imagine how long it took for his preschool teachers to help him create this beautiful calendar (and then doing it again 16 more times for all of the preschool friends in his classroom). As the note home today said, "I hope that when you open the gift your child made for you, you will understand why you did not receive a lot of art projects the last few weeks. You should see them appear a little more regularly after school resumes!" Such a blessing and hope you enjoy too!

Benjamin wanted to read you a story. The story is from our homeschool curriculum and is the second in the box of "Fun Tales". Please enjoy as Benjamin proudly reads "Tap?". I have included the illustrations from the book so you can follow along.
